the sensor with just the single wire back to the connector plug up by the balance tube? Seems if that's the case it would also be a good idea to ground the connector terminal (going back to the ECU). Unless I'm mis-understanding - the Nissan design has the shielded cable (from ECU) grounded on both ends. When the 2nd wire is connected to the sensor's terminal -- that picks up the ground connection from the sensor's hold down bolt. If that 2nd line isn't connected - then another way to pickup the ground connection is supplying a top-side ground run to the mating connector by the balance tube. Main idea in all this is to make sure the shielded cable has very low potential (grounds) applied to both ends - allows the cable to do its job correctly...
